A shepherd’s rod and the staff are some of mankind’s oldest tools, and are symbols of protection and guidance. These symbols are used frequently in the Bible to depict how God cares for his people, whom Jesus, the Good Shepherd, calls his “sheep” and his “flock.” In this message, we see how Jesus uses these symbolic tools to lead us in the right direction if we choose to follow Him, and how He finds us and brings us back if we get confused and wander off. We can count on always being guarded, directed, guided, and protected when we are in the hands of the Good Shepherd.
